New Consignments

Here is my two sales made from the Glass Gallery show. A private party from Phoenix, AZ wanted specific colors so I took them to Bullseye Glass and they selected the red streaked glass, then fused it and slumped it. I got a call a week later from a collector in Tampa Bay, FL and they purchased the green and black Geode Bowl.

Glass Gallery

Well, I did the Gathering of the Guilds- Glass Gallery show  at the Portland Convention Center in May. There are some new things on display with pot melts, special glass and some new ideas. The sales were OK but I did get two commissions after the show from people from out of town that purchased things after the show which is really great.

New Glass

What a happy accident, this turned out to be a spectacular piece of glass. I titled it Deep Water, it is a 17 diameter shallow bowl. I wanted to use as much of the sheet of glass as possible so I fused a sheet of clear on top and had the circle cut with a water jet. I then polished the edge and slumped it. There are very small air bubbles trapped between the layers of glass, so when either the sun shines on the edge or you shine a light on the edge these bubbles pop out as little golden "stars" in the glass. This piece is at Freed Gallery -Lincoln City, OR for $280..

New Glass

A new piece of glass made from "pattern bars". a technique where you stack glass and heat it up to about 1700F and allow the glass to "flow".
All of the squares started as 2" X 2" on top of a piece of clear glass, inside a stainless steel ring to contain the glass. The piece is about 16" in diameter and 1/2" thick.
This piece is at the at the Freed Gallery in Lincoln City Oregon.

Freed Gallery

This week we delivered fresh work to our favorite gallery. Freed Gallery is in Lincoln City Oregon , which is a very up scale gallery on the Oregon coast it has a wide variety of paintings, sculpture and glass. Lee Freed the owner found me at our first art show in Portland and asked me to bring work to her gallery. I have been in this gallery now for about five years. They have a good web-site where you can view work by an artists name in any category. If you have a chance go to the gallery web-site: www.freedgallery.com
